A little bit about me:
I'm an artist-printmaker based in the London area. I gained my BA Fine Art (Printmaking) at WSCAD, Farnham. About 7 years ago I decided to refresh my skills on a part time course. I’ve become totally addicted to screenprinting again and haven’t looked back!
My screenprints reflect my penchant for gaudy colour plus a passion for wildlife and our natural world. As a child I was encouraged by my Scottish grandad to appreciate nature and he taught us the names of all the flora and fauna we saw. I still spend many hours walking in the countryside - these days I’m on the lookout for potential subjects for my prints! My aim is to portray the quirky characteristics of the creatures I’ve been so lucky to encounter.
Working from my sketches and my own photos as reference, I create detailed artwork which is then transferred onto a silkscreen to create a stencil. Each colour requires a different stencil to be prepared. I then pull the ink through the silkscreen onto the paper below using a squeegee, trying not to get too much ink on my clothes… I use this method to hand print all my images at a local college in London.
My screenprints have been selected to exhibit at the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition (twice), Wildlife Artist of the Year and the Art on a Postcard exhibition, amongst others.
My ‘Duck’ print is featured in the Royal Academy's 2024 calendar. Check out February!
I’m a member of Southbank Printmakers and my ‘Paddling’ print has been selected for our 2024 calendar.
